If Slam Poetry is anything like Charlie McKenzie lamenting the “Wooooo-MEN” in his life like “HARRIET, sweet Harriet” via poetry on stage, then COUNT US IN. Who remembers Mike Myers’ stellar stage presence in cult classic “So I Married an Axe Murderer?” Maybe this will freshen your memory… “Hard-hearted harbinger of haggis. Beautiful, bemuse-ED, bellicose butcher. Untrust-ING… Unknow-ING… Unlov-ED?”
Well get your mind out of the early 90s cinematic gutter because this is REAL DEAL poetry people! Andrea Gibson is actually a nationally recognized slam poet and coveted wordsmith who is coming to Vegas as part of the tail-end of the summer art & culture series! The Center is bringing this talented poet in for a special performance Saturday, September 21 from 8-10 p.m and boy is this gonna be good! In all seriousness, Gibson is known for being at the forefront of the spoken word movement delivering harsh truths through her delicately crafted and beautifully performed poetry.
